Last week we discussed the bad rep free samples of products (freebies) have gotten. We addressed the fears and talked a bit about the gains. Now, let's talk about how to make requesting them easier and better than ever!
(1) Use an automatic form filler program ““ Many free software programs are available that will fill in your basic information (name, address, email) automatically. This saves time and helps eliminate errors. Look for one that works with your privacy protection and anti-virus software and comes recommended for safety.
(2) Subscribe to a freebie alert program ““ There are numerous companies that alert their members to available freebies. Most of these services are free or come as part of another service. You receive an email about once a week or so; some more often. Better yet – check out our blog daily for our recommended freebies! We search through available ones and pick some to feature.
(3) Be choosy – Only sign up for freebies that really interest you. This eliminates the issue of not knowing what to do with unwanted samples, brochures, and coupons.
(4) Be consistent ““ It takes a while for freebies to show up in your mailbox. But if you request them on a consistent basis, after 4 weeks or so, you'll start having those special surprises in your mailbox often.
(5) Use a separate email ““ Worth repeating from last week”¦ use an extra email address just for requesting freebies. This will eliminate unwanted correspondence in your regular inbox.
(6) Use your freebies to the fullest ““ Make a plan for the coupons bound to come with your freebies. Devise a place to keep them and a review them for use. Didn't like the product? Pass your coupon on to someone who does.
As mentioned last week, we're encouraging requesting legitimate freebies only. These are offered by reputable companies, via trusted sites or the manufacturer's own site(s). Always beware of any “˜freebie' that sounds too good to be true. And don't give out information you are not comfortable giving.
