To really save money on groceries, you have to use coupons. And organizing your coupons in a way that makes sense to you is critical to success. In the “coupon world”, there are two camps: Clippers and Flippers. Clippers cut and organize all coupon inserts when received. Flippers leave coupon inserts intact and only cut when needed.
Clippers are further divided by choice of organization. Most use either envelopes housed in a container, or clear organizers, like the ones for baseball card collections. Different organization styles, such as by categories (dairy, meat, breakfast foods, etc.), or by item name alphabetically (Eggo waffles would be under “E”), further split clippers.
Flippers typically organize their uncut coupon inserts by employing a filing system, set up by date and coupon print company. They database the coupons in each insert, only retrieving and cutting when needed.
Both methods have pros and cons. Clippers spend more time up front, cutting and organizing. But having coupons at the ready comes in handy for unexpected great deals while in the store. Flippers spend much less time cutting and organizing, but can occasionally miss additional deals without an easy way to locate coupons. (Of course, for SavingsAngel members, you can use your computer or smartphone to pull up the information you need to quickly pull a coupon.)
Regardless of the method employed, it is most important you use coupons. So find a way that works for you and save!
