Last week we talked about how to make Valentine's Day fun for the kids. But what about that special someone, husband, wife, or significant other? Try a few of these easy, love filled, ideas:
- Play texting tag. Write something you love and appreciate about the other person. When they receive it, they send something back about you. Then you reply again, and so on.
- Recreate a special time together. Recreate as much as you can of your wedding day, the day you met, or another special day. Have the same food, go where you were (if you can; even if you only drive by), and talk about why it is special and what you remember.
- Renew your vows. Not necessarily with big fanfare and expense ““ or even anyone else watching ““ but say them to each other in a meaningful and heartfelt way.
- Use the good dishes. Have a special meal and use the dishes you rarely use. Set the table with your best and get out the things that are “only for special occasions”.
- Act goofy all day. Couples often say that they love when they laugh together, but they don't laugh as much as they once did. Find ways to be silly, renew old inside jokes, and retell funny incidences from days gone by.
- Hide “conversation” hearts. Pick out and wrap specific conversation hearts in tiny pieces of plastic wrap, then hide them in shoes, by keys, on the car dashboard, anyplace your spouse will find them. You can even try making a whole message using the main words only.
- Make a take-out picnic. Order your favorite foods, then relax outdoors if you can, indoors if you can't. Add a fire or fireplace if you can. Avoid electronics and just enjoy the time talking and reconnecting over good food.
