Let’s Cook!
In advance: Mix together 1 cup beef broth with 1.5 teaspoons (or to taste) chili powder. Divide into 10 spaces in an ice cube tray (about 1.5 tablespoons each) and freeze. Once frozen, remove from ice tray and place in a bowl for easy access as you form the burgers.
Sprinkle ground beef with salt and pepper. Roll into balls, inserting one ice cube into the middle of each. Grill each side on a covered grill over high direct heat, to create a nice outside crust, then move to a lower heat until fully cooked through. (As burger cooks, ice cube will melt within to give flavor and moistness.) In the last two or three minutes before burger is done, top each burger with a piece of cheese and allow to melt.
Serve immediately on buns, topping with lettuce and tomato, and condiments of choice. Offer with cubed cantaloupe and chips or pretzels.
