Frozen Food Recall (1)

Frozen food recall! Don't take another bite before reading this alert!

An expanded frozen food recall poses a widespread potential health risk. This latest notice by the FDA, announced  a voluntary recall on frozen fruits and vegetables has been expanded. Forty-two separate brands of frozen fruits and vegetables packaged or produced by CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington have the potential of Listeria monocytogenes contamination. All affected products have the best by dates or sell by dates between April 26, 2016 and April 26, 2018.

Before you make dinner tonight, take a quick look in your freezer. The recalled frozen products includes organic and non-organic broccoli, butternut squash, carrots, cauliflower, corn, edamame, green beans, Italian beans, kale, leeks, lima beans, onions, peas, pepper strips, potatoes, potato medley, root medley, spinach, sweet potatoes, various vegetable medleys, blends, and stir fry packages, blueberries, cherries, cranberries, peaches, raspberries, and strawberries.

If you have purchased any of the recalled items, you may return them to the store where they were purchased for a refund but, at the least, throw them out. For a complete list of the name brands, product specifics, and UPC codes, please check this long list of recalls.

Brand names that jumped out at me were Safeway Kitchens, Pantry Essentials (sold at Safeway), Trader Joe’s, Great Value (sold at Walmart), True Goodness (sold at Meijer stores), and Organic by Nature (sold at Costco).
