NutritionLabelAlthough new food labeling is likely to be a few years away, the nutrition labels that appear on almost every food and beverage item we purchase is in the process of changing.

The Food and Drug Administration is proposing a new label that would highlight calories, added sugars, and certain nutrients, such as Vitamin D and potassium. There's been no determination what the final label would look like, but we may see calories and sugars listed in larger, bolder type. The purpose behind the new labeling is to help consumers make healthier food and beverage choices.

The FDA is also proposing changes to serving sizesto make them more realistic. So, we may find out that the bowl of ice cream we're eating has even more sugar and calories than we think.
