How to Throw a Holiday Party

How To Throw A Holiday Party

It’s the time of the year again when we get to spend time with our family and friends and party to our heart’s content!

But holiday parties can be tough on your wallets and rough on your waistline if you don’t plan carefully. Not to mention that if you’re the host of this year’s party, you will also spend hours after hours planning the perfect night filled with fun, laughter, and food.

Throw a festive holiday bash that’s easy on your finances in these few simple and easy steps! If you want to spread holiday cheer and celebrate with the people closest to you, this stress-free guide on how you can throw the best holiday party is for you!

Pick The Right Date And Time

When most people think about a party, they immediately assume that it’s going to be a night-time event.

Believe it or not, a daytime get-together is just as fun and can also cost you less!

You may want to consider a holiday-themed pool party in those warmer locations, or a brunch, gift exchange, or a lunch potluck party with your guests in colder climes. While you may still need to cover a few food items or decorations, you can save money by asking each of your guests to bring one of their favorite holiday dishes to share with everyone!

Set The Mood

Set the mood for the party by creating a theme. A casual, holiday get together is often the most comfortable for your guests and the most affordable for you! You can go with a “Christmas Movie Marathon” or a holiday-themed dress up party!

Once you have a solid theme, look for affordable decorations that match your party plan. Don’t forget that you can use holiday decor you already own in these types of events, so make sure you search through your decorations box for ideas!

Prepare The Guest List

Know what all you need to plan your party beforehand! Make a guest list, and be sure to send out invitations and ask for RSVPs ahead of time.

You may opt to send email invites, which are faster and more economical than sending letters in the mail. Try to personalize each invitation to get your guests pumped!

Skip The Sit-Down Meal

If you have a crowd, serving dinner to each and every individual can be time consuming and most don’t have the space to seat all their guests at a formal dinner table.

A simple buffet featuring potluck dishes is a great alternative to a formal sit-down meal.

You can encourage everyone to bring in their favorite family recipes and stress less knowing that there will be a variety of dishes for your guests to choose from!

Opt For A Signature Drink

Avoid spending too much on a variety of fine adult beverages! Instead, choose to make a large amount of one signature drink to put your guests in a festive mood without spending too much money.

Manage The Mood

Create an atmosphere that sets the mood and tone for your party! Turn off the bright lights and set up candles or fairy lights that give off a warm, yet cozy glow. Choose candles with holiday scents to fill the air with festive aromas!

Get the party started by turning on everyone's favorite holiday music. You can make a playlist ahead of time or go the old fashioned way and turn on a holiday radio station or CD!

Add Some Activities

Karaoke? Dancing? A holiday cookie decorating challenge? There are a lot of activities you can choose from that will add a little more spice to your party!

You can also prepare White Elephant gifts or play holiday board games that all of your attendees will have a blast playing!

Have Fun

A party isn’t a party if you’re not having fun!  Try not to stress about every little detail, enjoy the festivities and holiday cheer, and reward yourself for a job well done!
