Shopping Tips for Those Last-Minute Holiday Gifts

It’s that time of year! Have you purchased all the gifts you needed this year? Did you procrastinate a bit and are scrambling to get those last items on time? Check out our tips below on how to get those gifts on time and at great prices.

Use Your Memberships

For those that are Amazon Prime members, Walmart+ members, and more can take advantage of fast, free shipping on thousands of items. If you have a general idea of what you want to gift to someone (or even if you don’t — these retail sites are great to peruse for ideas), you can almost definitely find something suitable on a membership site with free shipping that will get to you by the holidays (even now, but hurry!)

Don’t forget to shop competitively — find a few suitable options and pick the one that’s the best deal for you.

Shop at Stores That Ship Fast and/or Offer Curbside Pickup

If you find that perfect item but are worried about shipping times, do a quick check to see if any retailers near you have it in stock or can have it shipped to their store quickly. Ordering an item to be shipped to the store is typically free for you and can often have faster shipping times than ordering to have it delivered to your home.

If the item’s in stock nearby, you can pick it up fast and efficiently by ordering it online and picking it up in-person or through curbside pickup.

Shop Around for Carriers

No one likes to pay for shipping and most of us pick the cheapest option when we do need to pay for it. With the holidays just around the corner, there may be no other option than to pay for expedited delivery to receive gifts on time. That being said, look at all of the available carrier options so you can choose the best and least expensive option.

Look at what USPS, UPS, and FedEx offer in the way of expedited shipping and be picky. Also, remember some carriers will disclose that shipping times may be delayed; be sure to pay close attention to the fine print when choosing your carrier.

Be Vigilant

Always be vigilant and pay attention to shipping times and whether or not expedited shipping is guaranteed. The fine print is vital here, so always look closely and stay determined to find the best deals on gifts and expedited shipping as you buy those last-minute items.
