Groupon has agreed to pay $8.5 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging that they violated federal and state laws by failing to disclose that vouchers contained expiration dates and various restrictions.
If you’re a Groupon customer, and I know many of our followers are, then you’ll be interested to know that this Groupon voucher settlement may allow you to receive “Groupon Credits” equal to 130% of the value of the purchase price of unredeemed, unrefunded Groupon vouchers that are past their stated expiration date, and that were purchased between November 1, 2008 and December 1, 2011.
Each Groupon Credit is the equivalent to $1.00 in buying power for Groupon offerings on groupon.com, subject to certain limitations. The amount of Groupon Credits given to Settlement Class Members may be increased or decreased pro rata depending on the number and value of valid Claims submitted.
You must submit a Claim Form before the deadline in order to receive benefits from this Groupon voucher class action settlement.
If you submitted a claim under Groupon’s 2012 proposed Groupon voucher settlement agreement, your claim will automatically be submitted for this voucher class action settlement. You do not need to resubmit.
