Good money saving bargains you need to know for September- October 2017
We've been in the back-to-school savings mode for a while now and we may tend to think that “it's back to normal” once school begins. But there are good money saving bargains that are going on now in September with some lasting through October and beyond.
So what are the money saving bargains that come around this time of year that may be too good to pass up? Let's take a look:
Clothing and Apparel
Labor Day sales are on right now — plus watch for end-of-season clearance deals. This is a perfect time to combine a good sale with a Swagbucks rebate. For example, for every dollar you spend online at Old Navy will earn 6SB that you can redeem later on a huge inventory of gift cards when you've accumulated as few as 85 SB.
My best tip on clothing buys: Buy for your family now and stow some for next year. Think Christmas giving, birthdays, Easter, upcoming vacations, etc. You may be hard pressed to find swimsuits and other warm weather wear during the cold winter months when you’re heading out to spend time in a tropical location.
Popular stores and websites to glean some great buys are:
- Express is taking 40 percent off everything in stores and online.
- Gap has started their online exclusive sales with up to 50 percent off sitewide. And an extra 20 percent off your purchase with code GETMORE.
- The same goes for Old Navy with all jeans, dresses, and tees at 50% off. They are also touting clearance starting at $2.99!
The iPhone is facing its 10-yr Anniversary
Watch for the release of the iPhone 8 in September or October. If you’re ready to upgrade from an older version, this might be the perfect time to do that. Many stores will begin dropping their prices on previous generations of the iPhone – the best expected to be AFTER the new one comes out.
New and Used Cars
The months of September and October offer some of the best deals of the year on cars. Older models get cleared out to make way for new inventory.
Holiday/Travel plans:
NOW is the time of year to make accommodations for the holidays. Less competition keeps prices more reasonable. The closer you get, the higher the prices and the fewer options. You don't have as much availability so the ability to price-compare and price-shop becomes very hard. (We just booked our accommodations for the week between Christmas and New Year’s at a condo resort for close to 50% off!!)
The 2017 CheapAir Holiday Flights Report tells us that fares for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s flights are expected to increase the longer you wait. If you can book soon, do it.
Radisson Lake Buena Vista offers a Florida and Georgia Resident discount of 15% off their best available rates throughout the fall months. With rates from $89.00 plus tax, guests can enjoy spacious accommodations and an ideal location, just ¼ mile from the entrance to Walt Disney World.
There are no resort fees, no parking fees, and complimentary Wi-Fi is included in all guest rooms. This special can be booked by entering the promotional code “FLRES” in the promotional code section on their website: www.radissonlbv.com. Guests must show proof of residency at check-in.
Magic Village Luxury Condominiums has their Fall Sale going on from now through December 21st, 2017 with a 45% savings. You can check availability and book now or call +1 407-507-5900 and ask for the Fall Sale savings to take advantage of this special promotion.
All Florida residents can save 20% on Wyndham Vacation Rentals from now through December 24, 2017. For example, family and/or friends can stay for a week in one of their resort villas and save approximately $100 including taxes with this discount.
Wild Florida Airboats and Gator Park is offering FREE gator park admission for everyone thru the end of 2017.
Mattresses/Furniture/Appliances
Mattress deals are typically plentiful over the Labor Day weekend. Last year top brands like Beauty Rest and Posturepedic were discounted as much as $300-$400.
Furniture and appliances will also be discounted over the holiday weekend. However, washers, dryers, and other large appliances may be offered at lower prices during the Black Friday sale days which start earlier and last even longer than just one day in recent years.
JCPenney is focusing on appliances, furniture, and home goods this Labor Day with up to 60% off select furniture and mattresses and up to 40% off select major appliances.
Every Labor Day, Best Buy holds a huge sale on appliances and electronics. Look for anywhere from 30-40% off on refrigerators, washers, dryers, microwaves, and other select built-in appliances. You’ll find similar sales and deals at Home Depot.
Seasonal items
Backyard and seasonal items such as BBQ grills, patio tables and chairs, other outdoor living and picnic supplies will be cleared at closeout prices. You’re sure to find many of these items ready to greet you as you walk in the front door of your box and bigger discount stores.
Laptops
Check your big box suppliers for deals on laptops that have been discounted for back to school.
If you going to be busy with family and friends over this holiday, Columbus Day is coming up Oct 9 and there are sure to be a repeat of some of these same sale items.
