Fun and Affordable Ways to Celebrate Father’s Day

Fun and Affordable Ways to Celebrate Father's Day

That's right moms and kids, Father's Day is right around the corner. You might be stumped on ideas or looking for ways to keep the cost affordable. Here are some budget-friendly ideas that are sure to make dad grin this Father's Day.

Keep It Simple

Sometimes, dad just wants a day of quiet to enjoy his hobbies. Perhaps you can help the kids make or choose a nice card, make him breakfast in bed, and help him spend the day his way. Whether he likes to fish, woodwork, watch sports, or make models, give dad a day to do just that. For some dads, just that is a wonderful, relaxing day that they don't get to enjoy very often.

Ask the father or father-figure in your life what they actually want to do for father's day – chances are you can get some idea of what he would enjoy.

Plan an Activity With the Kids

Perhaps you can help to plan an activity that dad and the kids can enjoy together. Maybe they can go to the outdoor store and then head out to go fishing, or they can go to the hardware store and decide on a project to work on together.

On the other hand, if dad just wants to relax, help the kids cook his favorite meal and put on his favorite music, movie, or TV show.

Plan an Outing

If you're trying to plan an outing but keep it on a budget, research some activities you know dad would enjoy that are budget-friendly.

Does he enjoy the outdoors? Most national parks are free to explore and every state has them. See what nature areas you and the family can explore with dad.

This website has a map and database of all of the national parks in the country where you can search by state to see what parks are near you.

Is dad a car guy? See if there are any car shows going on nearby on Father's Day by checking online and on your community bulletin. Car shows are usually free or very inexpensive and are definitely a fun time for car enthusiasts.

If dad likes fishing, that's an easy outing to plan, as I mentioned. Just make sure anyone partaking has their fishing license, if required by the state.

Maybe you can plan a small get-together at a park or even at home to throw dad a barbeque. That can be inexpensive and very enjoyable for the whole family, especially if you treat it like a potluck and guests bring their own dishes. Just make sure to grab dad's favorite main dishes and beverages and you're all set to have the perfect, affordable Father's Day barbeque.

Look for Father's Day Deals

Many restaurants, stores, and venues offer awesome Father's Day specials and deals for dads and their families. Look online to see what deals and specials might be great for your family this Father's Day, and if dad is a veteran, there may even be extra deals offered for veteran dads. Take a look at places that offer military discounts for these types of deals to see what they're offering this Father's Day.
