** Consumer Alert** Baby wipes recalled for potential bacteria

 

Baby in diapers sitting back side, white backgroundThe FDA released a report that Nutek Disposable, Inc. has initiated a nationwide recall of baby wipes manufactured under several different names and sold at various retailers and internet companies.

After receiving complaints of odor and discoloration from consumers, Nutek tested the baby wipes and found potentially harmful bacteria Burkholderia cepacia (B. cepacia) in some of these products.

Persons with certain health problems or a weakened immune system may be susceptible to infection from B. cepacia. It poses little risk to healthy individuals.

Nutek is working with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration to address the issue with the retailers and distributors.Consumers can return the wipes to the place of purchase for a full refund.
