Here is the box it arrived in. Very heavy!

We've started inflating it.

The filters are installed. This has all been very easy so far.

This is where the water goes, apparently.

12 hours later, still not warm enough – although that didn't stop Ethan & Noah from trying.

The next morning (and evening), however, was delightful.

How much power does this thing use?

coleman-hottub-7

How much will this thing cost to operate?

My electricity rate is.07 per kWh

The heater uses 1 kWh (see photo above). The average seems to be less than 2 hours/day in 50-60 degree weather. = 14 cents daily for heating.

The filter uses .027 kWh – when just filtering (not heating). That's about 1/5 of a penny to operate per hour = 4.5 cents daily for filtering.

TOTAL ELECTRICAL COSTS: 18.5 cents a day to operate – about $5.55 monthly.

Chlorine/bromine tabs – Maybe $2-$4/mo. depending on usage. More for heavy usage.

The filters are very easy to clean – but I suppose you might want toreplace them annually – or depending on usage.

Bottom-line:

If you've been thinking of getting a hot tub, you'll likely spend $2000 on up for a conventional hot tub. You'll be missing jets in this inflatable – but the jacuzzi style bubbles are nice. At $379, if this can keep you from buying a $2000-$4000 hot tub and give you some extra portability – and the ability to pack it away when not in use, go for it. The construction is sturdy. The set up was a breeze. The heater took longer than expected – but I feel the operating costs are reasonable. Is it a luxury item? Perhaps. At $379, the luxury is far more affordable, however.
