This is a pretty common question that allergy sufferers ask:
How can I save money on allergy medicine? It's getting expensive during allergy season!
Let's review a couple things that might help before I show you the best prices that I could find…
Lifestyle changes
This should go without saying – but it will improve your quality of life, reduce the amount of medicine you need to take, and save you money if you are changing your lifestyle in a way that reduces your allergic reactions to whatever is ailing you.
- Stay indoors or in places like an air conditioned car.
- Take regular showers to get rid of the pollen on your body,
- Change the filters in your house (and get higher quality ones),
- Wear cotton – which is less likely to attract pollen.
Take an allergy test
It may be worth going to an allergist to pinpoint the problem. The doctor might be able to recommend an OTC remedy that could save you money if you know exactly what’s triggering the problem and you can handle it differently.
If that hasn’t helped… buy generic
Buying generic can save you money when they are available. Look @ the active ingredients to make sure you’re not buying some homeopathic remedy that doesn’t have the same effectiveness, and read online product reviews from other allergy sufferers. You may be able to pick up generic or store brands for 30% – 40% less than brand name retail prices with no coupon needed. Just make sure you are purchasing through a large reputable chain store and not some shady website, flea market, or the back of someone’s van. That’s no good. Also watch for expiration dates – because they can lose their effectiveness if they sit on the shelves or in your medicine cabinet too long.
Save BIG money on allergy medicines by either shopping online or catching sales and coupons!
