Walmart store closings announced

Fans of Walmart may wake up to a closed Walmart in their area by the end of this month. Without prior notice, Walmart has announced the closing of 269 stores in the U.S. and abroad. Of the 269 closings, 154 locations are in the U.S. This includes 102 Walmart Express stores, 23 Walmart Neighborhood Market stores, 12 Supercenters, 4 Sam’s Club stores, and more. Click here for a full list of stores that will be closing.

Sadly, this will cause Walmart to layoff more than 10,000 U.S. employees by the end of this month. Fortunately for employees, 95 percent of the closed stores in the U.S. are within 10 miles on average of another Walmart. The company hopes to place these associates in a nearby location.

What does this mean for the future of Walmart and Walmart shoppers? Will the Walmart store closings change where you shop? Find out more here!
