The Enlightened Shopping System Technical Help Page

* Note - this page is only for explaining the technical aspect of searching our enlightened shopping system - finding coupons and store sales. For education on the enlightened shopping philosophy and lifestyle, browse the enlightened shopping magazine on the members home page.

* Note - when viewing the browse list after adding items, you may not see the browse and sort list or your link to show your personal list. If you would like these features, click on the Enlightened Shopping tab at the top of the page.

1. Browse specific store
- select the store you want to browse through. As we expand, we will be adding more stores on a regular basis. If your store is not listed, contact us using the contact form on the main members page. For Spring 2007, our focus is primarily Western Michigan. Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Holland, Kalamazoo. We plan on cataloging the following stores by June 2007: Meijer, Walgreens, Rite-Aid, Family Fare, Plumbs, D&W, CVS. We may add specials from other stores as the information is shared with us. It should be noted that redeeming the sales at Meijer & Walgreens alone will cut your grocery budget in half once you've stocked your pantry.

2. Sort by product name, amount saved, or percentage saved - After clicking 'Go!' your results will show based on your criteria. We recommend sorting by percentage saved! It's fun to see all the items you can get for 50% off or greater!! However, if you just want to browse items by proiduct name alphabetically, have at it! :-)

3. In what order do you want to view products? Either A to Z or Z to A. Your choice! You could also sort 100% to 0% - or 0% to 100%. That's your choice, too!

4. Click Go! - Makes the browsing and sorting criteria happen.

5. Show Your Personal List - After you've added items to your list, you can click this link to show your personal list. On that page, you can delete items and print out the page that you can take to a Wal-Mart Supercenter or any store that matches competitor's prices. Of, course, you can also simply use this list at the stores from where your chosen products are on sale.

Below this link will be a running total of how many items you have in your personal list - along with how much you've saved so far. (Assuming you are only buying one item).

6. Click Here for Help - Hey! You just did that. Come and visit this page anytime you like for some ~angel~ guidance! We will likely add more information here based on questions we get to our feedback form.

7. How many items do you want to show per page - Decreasing this number may speed up the time it takes to display your browsing pages. We're searching through hundreds of items and coupons - so be patient while the data loads, however. :-)

8. Browse more pages of products - There's more! When you get to the bottom of a page, select a new page from these links at either the top or bottom of the list and keep browsing. Make sure you've ADDED your items to your personal list first.

9. Column titles - The key to understanding what you're looking at. Keep an eye on this until you're more familiar with Enlightened Shopping.

1. Coupon Code or link
- WHAT IS WITH THE RP, SS, P&G??

RP = RedPlum Sunday coupon insert
SS = SmartSource Sunday coupon insert
P&G = Procter & Gamble coupon insert
All You Magazine = Available @ WalMart (~ $1.77) & by subscription
Store Coupon = Almost always in the store's weekly ad
Store Rebate = You may need to grab a rebate catalog @ store)
B1G1F = Buy 1 Get 1 Free, B2G2F = Buy 2 Get 2 Free, etc...

For example: .50/2 (SS 1/14) means a .50 coupon when you purchase 2 of that item You'll find this coupon in the SmartSource insert in your Sunday paper, Janurary 14th. (Look on the front page of the coupon inserts to learn which coupon distributor published it.)

If you want the most coupons, we recommend The Grand Rapids Press or a Detroit paper. A smaller newspaper will have about 30% of what the larger newspapers do. You can buy the Grand Rapids Saturday/Sunday/Monday delivery for a lower price if you mention SavingsAngel. Call 1-800-878-1411 to subscribe.

Grand Rapids Press
Coupons come out in the Sunday paper only.

When you really want to turn on the gas, you might decide to have multiple copies of the newspaper delivered.
Many times you are limited to the number of final sale prices on an item based on the number of coupons you have for that item.

Ask around and find out who among your friends, co-workers, or neighbors doesn't use their coupons. Ask them to save them for you! One member recently got 5 copies of a Sunday insert that had a $7 offer on diapers in each one! That's GOLD!!

Online coupons - Go ahead and click the link! You'll open up a new window where you can print a money saving coupon. Although you can get this coupon without subscribing to a paper, you may have to create a login to access them. You can usually print two copies of each coupon for each computer you have access to.

I don't have any coupons yet! - Don't fret. You'll start building them up soon enough. In the meantime, just look at the sale price and do a little math in your head. You'll still likely do very well if you focus on only buying items that have a GREAT sale and buy as much as you can (ideally 12 weeks worth or more).

2. Prices -
Retail price -
What you would pay at the store with no sale or coupon - which of, course, an enlightened shopper would only do under dire circumstances! When the advertised special contains no retail price, we use a national average. It's possible you may see a different retail price at the store.

Sale Price -
What you would pay with no coupon - just taking advantage of the sale alone - which may or may not be great - look at the percent savings to determine this. If a store Rebate is available, it will also be reflected in this price.

Final Price -
If a coupon is available this will be even lower than the sale price. Woo-Hoo!

3. Amount Saved & Percent Saved - This is a fun column! We couldn't believe it at first... you can actually get products at 70%...80%...90%...100% OFF??

4. Add to list - Check these boxes and click "Add to Personal List" at bottom of the page. Don't forget to do this before navigating to another page - or else you'll lose all your selections. To view your personal list, simply click on "Show Your Personal List" at the top. WHEN YOU ADD TO CART, CLICK YOUR BACK BUTTON - OR THE GO BACK LINK TO CONTINUE BROWSING YOUR CUSTOMIZED SEARCH CRITERIA.
