Happy February!!!
Even though February is a short month, you still need a budget, so I hope you completed yours by now. (Oh, and don't forget that it's a Leap Year - Fun!)
If January was your first experience making a budget and attempting to actually follow it, don't despair. I know you didn't do so hot. No one does at first, or even second, or even third. It takes time to master yourself and your spending habits. That's why we all need help. We're not naturally perfect at finances.
And here comes one of the biggest areas of faltering - balancing the checkbook.
I know, I know. I don't like this task either, but it is necessary to be financially healthy. Think of it as your financial vitamins. Balancing the checkbook helps to ward of money-disease. (That's when your checkbook is wasting away to nothing.)
So...
Weekly Goal for February 4 to February 10, 2008:
Balance the Checkbook
Most adults know how to balance a checkbook, so I won't go into much detail. I will recommend using your bank's automated system (either on the internet or by phone). This gives you the most up-to-date information. Then you're able to bring the checkbook up to today, rather than still having unbalanced items for 2-3 weeks.
If you are unsure of how to balance a checkbook, check the back of your most recent bank statement - you are likely to find directions there. Oh, and if you still don't have a February budget - get it done!!!
